The Important Role Checklists Played in This Hotel Operator’s Success

By properly using checklists at his hotel, Rich now has the time & energy to work ON the business not IN the business. They literally helped him get Out of the Weeds!

Y’all know that I am the operations guys and my mantra is “Manage Systems, Develop People”. But it’s not every day I get to speak to another operations guy who has adopted this mantra—at such a high level—in his business.

Rich Harris operates the Original Rosslyn Inn in Scotland (you’re going to love his accent!) where he adopted the practice of using checklists with this team a couple of years ago. He shares his strategies for getting his staff to use their checklists and how now they love them so much that they ask him for their weekly sheets if he forgets to print them.

It’s truly music to my operations loving heart!
