There are 2 major complaints I get in the restaurant business – there’s not enough money and there’s not enough time. Let’s deal with that last one.

Nothing is really official until it’s scheduled into your calendar. You’re probably already putting things like your meetings or doctor appointments in there, but what about everything else?

If you’re planning on being out on the floor between 11am – 1pm, then block that off in your calendar. Taking lunch at 3pm – block it off in your calendar. Does it take you 15 minutes to commute – book it into your calendar! Need to make sure you hit the gym before you open the doors – you guessed it – block it off in your calendar.

When you have a clear understanding of everything that has to happen in your day, you’re going to prevent you from double booking, overbooking and over promising.
