Quick Tip #24 – Start with the end in mind.
It doesn’t matter what it is – whether you’re developing a new project or new concept or you’re training a new employee.  If you really want to succeed and knock it out of the ballpark, you need to start at the end and work your way to the beginning. Â
Answer this question: Â What benefit do we want this person to end up with? Â What do we want them to feel? Â What emotion do we want to invoke? Â
This isn’t any different than planning a trip.  If you hop in the car, start driving and land in New York City, you might miss out on some of the best experiences of the city.  But if you decide that you want to go New York City and experience new culinary delights, you can set up your trip based on that desired outcome of the trip.
Action Item:
Think ahead over the next few months so you can pick an upcoming project whether that be a brand new menu, a new concept for your business or a new employee coming on board. Â Start at the end by asking yourself: how do we want our guests to feel when they enter our restaurant? Â What emotions do we want our guests to have when they taste our new menu? Â What benefit do we want this new employee to have when working here.
