What were you doing when your restaurant was doing well? That’s exactly what I want to answer for you today.
A Quite note from our Sponsor:
Before we do that check this out really quick: I will never forget walking around my restaurant and pulling the drain out of the floor sink and finding lemons, limes, all kinds of food scrap or plastic wrap. Then I would have to pull that out by hand because my cooks were just shoving that stuff down there. The drains were getting clogged or the restaurant smelled. We had to call plumbers out to snake the drains and it was expensive. What was happening is my floor sinks and floor drains just had grates that you could remove or shove stuff through. That’s when I found Guardian Drain Lock and they are fantastic. They come in six different sizes and shapes. The best part: you screw them down and they lock in place. You no longer have that issue of people removing the drain cover and then shoving stuff down the drain. These are going to save you thousands of dollars a year. It’s been proven! They’ve been used in chain restaurants and were developed by a manager at a very big chain restaurant. I have clients all over the country and all over the world using these and they have nothing but great things to say about them. Get yourself some Guardian Drain Locks to save you money on plumbing and clogged up drains. Click Here.
What were you doing when your restaurant was doing well?
I talk to restaurant owners and operators all over the world every day. I help them improve operations and increase profits in their restaurant. One of the questions that I ask them is, “Was there a time you were doing well?” They usually answer “Yes” and then I always ask a follow up question, “What were you doing differently when you were doing well?” A common answer I get is, “I was in the restaurant more.” Okay, then you need to be there more. Another answer I get is, “We were constantly changing the specials.” Well okay, maybe you need to be doing that more. Last is, “We were advertising in this magazine, we were doing more of this, we were doing less of that, etc.” The funniest thing to me is if I’m asking about their advertising in the past, they tell me they used to do this or that. I’ll ask which one of those worked the best for you and they’ll tell me about one successful advertising tactic. Then I’ll ask, “Are you still doing that?” And they’ll say no. I don’t think I need to talk anymore here.
