After visiting a client’s restaurant, we came up with this really great idea for Halloween (I mean it’s a REALLY great idea) and I wanted to share that with you today.
Halloween is a really slow night in the restaurant as we all know, but how are we going to get people in the door. We were tossing around ideas about doing like a fun clues theme night, or something really adult-themed. Well the reality is on Halloween adults are going to be with their kids. Or if they don’t have kids are going to be at home passing out candy to kids. So here’s what we came up with.
We’re going to do free food for the kids—it’s a Mexican restaurant so we’re just going to do taco, rice, and beans. IT’s not going to cost a lot of money but free food for the kids if they’re in costume with the purchase of an adult meal. We thought about giving away one of those giant gummy bears or a giant chocolate bar to the kid in the best costume, but we’re not going to pick the prize that night here’s why.
We’re going to take a picture of every kid in the costume. We’re going put it up on Facebook and let our viewers decide. Well if you want a rally for your kid to win the contest? All you have to do is tell all of your friends to come to Facebook and vote for your kid. So it’s going to bring engagement to Facebook.
Here’s the best part. How are we going to notify the winner? We need your email address to notify you if you win. So we’re going to get families into the restaurant on Halloween .. traditional slow nights. You’re are going to feed the kids for free if they’re in costume and it’s fun, and if they ordered an entrée. Then we’re going to do a contest, we’re going to give away the gummy bear to the kid with the best costume. We’re going to do that to three of four days after Halloween. We’re going to create engagement on our Facebook page with our customers. They’re are going have fun, they’re going to come, they’re going to vote. They are going to see all the great things are in our restaurant. and then we will capture all those email addresses for our email sign-up — for our loyalty program etcetera, etcetera, etcetera!
So great holiday promotion for Halloween which is I think a week from today? Yeah! I’m going to send this out on Thursday and Halloween is next Thursday.
So again this is Ryan Gromfin with The Restaurant Boss saying have a great day, have a great Halloween. And I look forward to seeing you again soon!
