“Comparison is the thief of joy.” – Theodore Roosevelt

Even though Teddy Roosevelt didn’t live in social media driven world like we do, he sure knew what he was talking about in today’s quote. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others.

I am here today to tell you to just stop that right now!

Don’t compare your beginning to somebody else’s middle. In fact, don’t compare your anything to their anything.  I know this is easier said than done at times, but I promise if you make a solid plan and stick to that plan, it’s easier to stave off jealousy.

Don’t try to tackle this plan all at once – remember, baby steps! Simply put one foot in front of the other, keep your eye on prize, and keep taking steps forward.

Last, but definitely not least, be grateful for what you have. If you follow these steps, I promise you will find the joy.

Action Step:

Control what you can control. If you find yourself not exactly where you want to be right now, then look for 3-4 things you can control and make sure they are 110%.  You can control your food, your service, and the experience guests have when in your restaurant, you can’t control who walks through the front door. So when somebody does, give them the best experience imaginable.
