This tip is one that keeps on giving.  Social media is a surefire way to get people talking about your restaurant, but many restaurant owners aren’t sure how to get themselves noticed.

There’s no one on the planet who doesn’t love free food and drinks.  So pick a night, whip up some appetizers and a few cocktails and throw yourself a party.  You’ll want to make sure that anyone who writes/blogs about food, restaurants or things happening about town as well as anyone who’s a big name on social media.  Talk them up, get to know them, and by gosh have fun.

Plan to have someone on staff that can snap pictures throughout the event and post them to your social media accounts.  Bonus points if you create your very own hashtag for the event.  Before you know it, these people are going to be tweeting the heck out of the party.  Now you and your awesomeness are getting in front of a whole bunch of new audiences and you’re playing nice with the people who are going to give you some free PR.

Action Item:

Choose a night that your restaurant isn’t normally busy.  Make a list of anyone in your community who writes about food, restaurants or even who are just major players on social media.  Shoot them an email, drop them a tweet, or invite them via a Facebook event to your free party.  That’s it.
